The National Salute 2024

November 11 @ 11:00 am 11:30 am EST

In honor and recognition of the end of WW1 and the completion of the National WW1 Memorial in Washington, D.C we invite all trumpet/bugle and cornet players to sound either Taps – our National Song of Remembrance or Last Post – the British and Commonwealth bugle call used at military funerals, and at ceremonies commemorating those who have died in war to join Taps for Veterans for THE NATIONAL SALUTE – 2024.

The National Salute, re-instituted in 2015, is a means to show our deep respect for our Unknown Soldiers buried in the plaza of the Memorial Amphitheater in Arlington National Cemetery and all veterans. THE NATIONAL SALUTE ceremony will occur on the 11th Hour, of the 11th Day, of the 11th Month. NOVEMBER 11, 2024 at 11AM (LOCAL TIME)

Taps for Veterans is honored to partner with the Doughboy Foundation on this monumental day of honor, remembrance and recognition.

Registrations are closed for this event.

To ensure consistency and respect of the proper sounding of Taps and Last Post, we are providing the following music and sound clips for your use and reference:

As part of this years ceremony, we are recognizing the efforts of the U.S. World War One Centennial Commission and The Pritzker Military Museum and the 100 “WW1 Centennial Memorials project.

The 100 Cities/100 Memorials program was created to help draw attention to WWI memorials across the United States, and enables all of America to take part in the WWI centennial commemoration. Many of these WWI memorials have deteriorated due to the ravages of time, exposure to the elements, neglect and even vandalism.

A full list of WW1 Memorials are listed below
